Objects brought or sent to me from Hawaii. Dimensions variable

This piece is a response to historical timelines and narratives in relation to my experience being born and raised in Hawaii, and the subsequent experiences of living Elsewhere. In archiving the collection of objects I have amassed traveling back and forth from my home, I’m interested in how these objects relay tension in the act of building structure, both physical and emotional. The result is an altar built completely out sentimental things, some imbued with more broad recognition than others. How do these objects relate to psychological stigmas associated with souvenirs, the commodification of place, and the ownership of memories?
